Matas

On Sept. 27, 2007, I received an email from Nancy in Indiana about a dog in the Cheyeene, Wyoming animal shelter. She was listed as a Bouvier/Husky mix and she sure was gorgeous and listed on Petfinders.com. Her picture was as below.
I called the Cheyenne shelter and paid her adoption fee over the phone. That was on a Thursday and we didn't think we could get her until the weekend, but were able to pick her up on Friday the 28th. She was a gorgeous dog and was very happy to leave the shelter.

She fit in fairly well with our existing pack although Sparky and Molly were jealous of another addition. She had the most wonderful personality that one could imagine. Friendly towards people, dogs, and even cats. Very affectionate and well behaved. We fell in love with her quickly and if we had fewer than 4 dogs, we would have kept her.

One thing was pretty obvious. If there was any Bouiver in her, it was well hidden. She looked like a Briard and may have some other mix in her. It didn't matter as she is a wonderful dog.

Via word of mouth, we learned of a couple near Denver that was interested in Matas. The couple had Bouviers in the past, but only had a Griffon mix now. It sounded like a wonderful home and a visit proved that.  The paperwork was done, but some bad weather delayed delivery until October 18. It was a bittersweet trip as we know we would miss her terribly, but she has a great home and one where she wouldn't be in competition with 4 other dogs. Rescue is like that. It is always sad to see them go when you have spent time with them.

She is doing well and has been renamed Brie. The following two pictures are of her at her new home which is in the mountains west of Denver.

I will always remember her fondly. She is a wonderful girl.
